ALPHA NUMERIC PAGING FAQ
Some of the most common questions asked about the alpha paging system
Q: What is the warranty on these pagers?
A: Most
new pagers, both Motorola and Apollo come with 1 year warranties Q: My pager is not going off for calls anymore
A: We can
check your pager out at QV and "reprogram" it. In some cases, we
can get the pager functioning again. If we cannot, it will need to
go out for repair. If it is outside the warranty period, repairs
could be costly. Some departments simply throw the unit away and
order new pagers instead of paying for repairs. Q: The screen on my pager is all scratched and I cant read the messages.
A: Often,
this is caused by the plastic carrying case which comes in contact with
the screen. QV can replace screens on the older model Advisor
pagers (with green backgound) at no charge. We cannot replace
screens on the Advisor II units still under warranty as it is a
violation. Q: I belong to more than one organization, can I have all the codes in my alpha pager?
A:
Motorola Alpha pagers are limited to four (4) capcodes. All pagers
contain an individual code (to alert one person). Other codes
often include the members FD all call, an officer code if they hold an
officer position, an ambulance (or EMS) code to separate fire calls from
EMS calls. Add up the groups that you belong to and if they exceed
four, you will need a pager other than Motorola. Apollo pagers
come with six or eight capcodes. Q: Our dept. has lost track of who has which pager. How can we straighten this out? A: QV attempts to maintain as accurate a list as possible for each department. If we are not notified of changes, we cannot update our records. If your list has gotten out of your control, we can come to your station and reprogram all of your pagers there instead of bringing them all up to QV.
